Smoke Tutorials Quick Tip: Reveal Footage Location

Sometimes after soft-importing footage into Autodesk Smoke, you may lose track of where the source clip lives in your filesystem.

In this Quick Tip video, I show you how to use the Pre-Processing tab to locate the source location of your clips, and how to find them in the Mac OS Finder or using the Spotlight search.

You can also use the Pre-Processing tab for lots of other things related to how Smoke interprets your footage, so learning how to access this feature of Smoke can really help your workflow.

I also used the Closed Caption feature in Screenflow and YouTube for this video, so please give me feedback on how it’s working for you. I’m especially interested if you’re in a non-English speaking country and you want to use YouTube’s new instant translate feature for closed captioned material. To enable this feature in the video, simply click on the little box in the lower right corner with “CC” on it, and select Translate Captions. This feature is in beta apparently, but hopefully it will translate the captions suitably well for you.

Enjoy the tip, and let me know what you think. Also let me know what other tips for Autodesk Smoke on Mac you would like to see in the future. Thanks for watching!
